Anti-waste solidarity store

“Atelier Anti Gaspi & solidaire” produce pastries, cookies, jams and juices, with unsold products. The recipes are made and sold in stores by people with disabilities from several ESATs (Établissements et Services d'Aide par le Travail) in the Nantes region.

The project was carried out by the local association Handicap Travail Solidarité, whose aim is to develop the social, professional and cultural integration of people with disabilities.

To develop this initiative, a vacant, well-equipped store with a sales area of about 50sqm was made available.
A synergy between the different actors of the project was developed: Carrefour graciously lent its workshop for the preparation of dishes and desserts based on unsold bread/fruit and vegetables; the employees of HTS/ESAT worked both at the back of the store for the clothes, and at the front, for the sale.

The store opened on the occasion of the National Day of Fight against Food Waste, and the World Food Day, on October 16, 2020, and remained open for 2 months, until December 31, 2020.
