Net zero portfolio
Klepierre has set itself the ambitious target of net zero CO2 emissions by 2030. This will of course involve reducing emissions at the level of each mall, promoting decarbonized consumption through the purchase of renewable energy and increasing the production of on-site green energy. When despite all of these actions, net zero target is not reached, carbon offset solutions can be considered.
This is the case in Spain, where since 2018, the company has been participating in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture in a project to restore a forest, in the regional park of Sierra de Gredos, destroyed by fires in 2016. A similar project was funded in 2019 in Portugal. The approach this time is to participate in the reforestation of the country.
Not only allowing Iberian assets to be net-zero in advance to our 2030 goal, but this approach reflects Klépierre’s strategy to invest in meaningful projects which can have a positive local impact.
