In 2015, the center Akmerkez in Instanbul, Turquey, decided to offer to customers a place to escape from the city and to relax in a green environment by using its 750 sq. m rooftops as a terrace with grass.

In 2017, they walked a step further and decided to plant 169 different varieties of fruits, vegetables and plants. As the first harvest was abundant, with 180 kg collected, Akmerkez decided to share this amazing initiative with the visitors of the center and organized a Harvest Festival.

They hold it on September 11th on the rooftops, where musicians animated the day. Tours of the gardens were proposed, you could pick some of the remaining fruits and vegetables, and enjoy animations for kids, interviews and free tastings of the products.
