Place d’Armes, a gem in the heart of downtown

Just next to City Hall in the very heart of the city, the Place d’Armes shopping center is a key component in the effort to enhance the appeal of downtown Valenciennes. Its development spearheaded the 2007 Coeur de Ville urban renewal project, implemented with the goal of restructuring the city center and building a light rail transit line. The project also entailed the completion of 140 residential units, 1,800 sq.m. of office space and underground parking for 680 vehicles below the shopping center.

Its 54 smaller stores reinforce the appeal of the downtown area for the 572,000 inhabitants within the catchment area.
