Akmerkez is a phenomenon in Istanbul and Turkey, standing for top-quality individual shops with nationally and internationally known formulas, with an excellent atmosphere and with a wide range of restaurants including a food court, but also the best Italian restaurant in Istanbul.
It is located on the European side of the Bosporus of Istanbul in a high quality residential area.
The Akmerkez complex consists of the shopping center (34,679 sq. m.), two office towers (30,194 sq. m.), one residential tower (83 apartments, 20,125 sq. m.) and a four-level car park (1,278 spaces).
Approximately 433,400 people, mostly affluent, live or work within the primary catchment area of the center. Monthly 1.3 million people visit Akmerkez. In 1996 the center received the highest award given by the International Council of Shopping centers (ICSC), the International Design and Development Award. The center is also the first shopping center in the world to receive both the Best Shopping center in Europe award and the International Design and Development award.
